REDI Economic Development secures a €2 million EIF loan to support Roma entrepreneurship
A €2 million facility from the European Investment Fund lets REDI extend financing to Roma-owned micro and small businesses at a materially larger scale.
REDI Economic Development has signed a €2 million loan facility with the European Investment Fund, backed by the Council of Europe Development Bank's social entrepreneurship instruments.
The facility funds the part of the model that donors cannot cover indefinitely: working capital and investment loans for Roma-owned micro and small businesses that mainstream lenders will not underwrite.
It is a change of scale rather than a change of method. Entrepreneurs are still mapped, trained and prepared locally; what changes is how many of them can be financed once they are ready.
